Ohio election law requires candidates to disclose any previous names they may have used in the past five years, when they file. On January 18, the Mercer County Board of Elections allowed Arienne Childrey, a candidate for State House, to remain on the Democratic primary ballot, even though she had not disclosed her previous name. See this story.
She is transexual, but she says she would have disclosed her prior (male) name if she had known about the requirement. However, the Ohio Secretary of State’s website, which purports to guide candidates, does not disclose the existence of this law.
The challenge was defeated on a technicality. The challenge was filed by a Republican, but since it relates to a primary, Ohio law requires the challenger to be a member of the appropriate party, and only a Democratic voter had standing to bring a challenge.
She? You mean he. Obviously someone with mental illness.
Health professionals do not agree with you.
“I’m a sweet transvestite! From Transsexual Transylvania!”
WAS/IS DRACULA SOME SORT OF SEXUAL BLOOD SUCKING SOMETHING FROM ROMANIA TRANS-SYLVANIA ???
OR MERELY TRANSFORMED INTO BIDEN/TRUMP — BLOOD-SUCKERS IN CHIEF ???
If she were to win the nomination, then would the Republican voter have standing?
I’m not sure what the harm of not disclosing a former name is. I heard it was something about criminals. But in Ohio, “Voting rights are restored to people convicted of a felony immediately upon completion of their prison sentence” (Ballotpedia). Furthermore, don’t prisoners still retain the right to run for office, even if they can’t vote?
Mentally ill people like this should not be on the ballot. It’s bad enough we have Biden.
Caveat Elector – Let the voter beware.
It’s almost like an unhealthy religion.
Being a Democrat is a mental illness.
I agree with Fred. However, there are lots of health professionals, and especially organizations thereof, that pay much more heed to “politically correct” or “woke” party line than actual health or science, and lend their professional credibility to whatever the sinister leftist hive party line is that day.
The most ardent ones also spend an inordinate amount of time trying to make sure everyone either falls in line with their unscientific propaganda, shuts up, or catches so much crap for standing up to it that they’ll reconsider retirement, other career options, or at least not daring to defy the collective going forward. Or, failing all that, at least serve as an example of what happens to those who dare resist what some people call “progress” or “enlightened thinking.”
Such an inordinate amount of time that one is at times left wondering when they find time for anything else in their career field, much less outside of it.
