On January 31, a Quinnipiac presidential general election poll was released. See here. It shows that President Biden leads former President Donald Trump, whether minor party and independent candidates are included or not.

    the latest tranche of swing state polls has Biden behind in every single one. The Morning Consult release has Biden behind Trump by 10 points in North Carolina, 8 points in Georgia and Nevada, 5 points in Michigan and Wisconsin and 3 points in Arizona and Pennsylvania. Moreover, the Morning Consult data show that, as the economy has declined somewhat as voters’ main issue in these states, immigration has moved up by a similar amount and is now voters’ second most important issue in five of the seven states. And Trump is preferred over Biden by wide margins on the immigration issue in each of these states: by 24 points in North Carolina, by 23 points in Nevada, by 22 points in Wisconsin, by 20 points in Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania, and by 16 points in Michigan.

  23. Swing state data is critical. The election will be decided there. The Quinnipiac poll doesn’t provide any swing state data.

  24. At a minimum, large swing states should choose their electors by district to minimize the chance that a narrow plurality will flip a huge number of electoral votes.

    Also, they should have run-offs, if no one gets 50%. Or, if there is no time for a run-off, award electors proportionally. Or, if necessary, authorize the legislature to choose the electors, if no one gets 50%.

    Otherwise, swing sates could become literal battlegrounds, with disgruntled voters storming state houses.

  25. I’ve always voted GOP for President, but in 2024 going to vote for Biden. Why? I eat steak/crab imperial and drink champaign everyday while watching the evening news about other Americans whining about debt, going hungry and broke, getting evicted, boo hooing about being a victim of crime and its funny and entertainment to me and I want to see it continue. The devastation with Biden is funny and better than watching Comedy Central for laughs and I want to see go on forever. Go Biden!
