Nevada Election Officials Contradict Selves Over Validity of an Independent Presidential Petition Without a Vice-Presidential Nominee

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.,’s Nevada independent presidential petition was circulated without a vice-presidential nominee, after an employee of the Secretary of State told the campaign that the petition didn’t need to list a vice-presidential nominee. After the petition had been circulated, the state said the employee had been mistaken. See this story. The Kennedy campaign says it will sue.

There are court precedents that it violates Equal Protection to force an independent presidential candidate to have chosen his or her vice-presidential running mate early in the year, because the major parties don’t formally choose their vice-presidential nominees until national conventions, which are held in July and August.

Nevada Election Officials Contradict Selves Over Validity of an Independent Presidential Petition Without a Vice-Presidential Nominee — 28 Comments

  1. Presumably, if an independent Presidential candidate has no Vice-presidential candidate, then that candidate’s electors are unpledged for the office of Vice President

  2. ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF BAAADE ELECTION LAW INFO FROM A GOVT HACK.

ONE MORE REASON TO ABOLISH THE EC AND ALL THE NONSTOP ROT WITH IT.

    PR
    APPV
    TOTSOP

  3. It wouldn’t be pointless if ChinaHo can do a separate petition. People who signed the president petition would be eligible to sign it, just like a new Kennedy petition, but there would be a lot less confusion over whether they had already signed.

  4. I’d vote for Kennedy. I still remember seeing (pre teen years) the trains bearing the coffins of two Kennedys from the 1960’s. Voting for Kennedy is retribution for the assassinations even though I’m not a Democrat. TRUMP DOESNT NEED MY VOTE.

  5. In 2022 one of the three Libertarian Party of PA candidates who got knocked off the ballot were knocked off due to a paperwork filing error which could have been fixed. Shortly before the deadline somebody from the LP of PA called to ask if the paperwork had.been filled out correctly and the person to whom they spoke at the Secretary of State’s office said that it was filled out properly. They only found out that it was not filled out properly after the deadline. Had they been informed of the error the LP of PA would have had time to send somebody to the Secretary of State’s office to fix it. The LP of PA sued over this and lost.

  6. That contradicts your idealistic and impractical contention elsewhere that petition signatures really are about public support. I know that’s the theory, and that in theory it’s possible to do it that way. But that’s not the practical reality.

  7. The Greens and Libertarians should stop encroaching on Retard Party fields of expertise.

  8. I’ll never forget Waldenloser’s resignation speech at the LPPA convention. He then went home to eat ten sticks of butter.

  9. NS PICKED BY RFKJR TO E VP CAND

    RFKJR – MAJOR FROGGIE VOICE

CNN REPORTED THAT 23 STATES REQUIRED A VP CAND FOR INDEE PREZ/VP BALLOT ACCESS.

  10. The candidate in Pennsylvania who got knocked off the ballot did NOT get knocked off due to their petition signatures. They were knocked off for not filling out their candidate declaration properly. This could have knocked them off even under a filing fee system.

  11. The candidate was not John Waldenberger, and this happened months after Waldenverger threw a tantrum at the LP of PA Convention where he said he was quitting the party and he gave the delegation double middle fingers as he stormed out of the convention room.

  12. Waldenberger wanted the federal government to run Uber because he sucked so hard at it. Every day was another tantrum about them. His music shop must be bleeding him dry.

  13. With Kennedy and Shanahan, LP will have its first winning Presidential ticket. Huge!

  14. I saw Shanahan’s speech at the announcement event and she was personable and articulate.
