  1. But not as secure or environmentally friendly, and voting is political power. Political power without accountability is dangerous. Voters need to be held accountable for the politicians they help elect, much as those politicians need to be held accountable for their votes on legislation, by having those votes be published and on the record. This goes double for States which unwisely let voters decide directly on legislation.

An additional factor to consider is that an ever growing number of voters are not proficient at spells, and more and more are shirking even learning their ABCs, in our increasingly digital society. Within a generation or two, literacy may once again become a small niche, if not outlawed altogether. Standing vote counts dispose of the wasteful spending involved with trying to teach most if not all children to cast spells.

You have a point about voters voting directly on legislation. If I vote YES on some ballot initiative, and it passes, it could have negative consequences for you. But you wouldn’t really know which way I voted unless it was on the record. If there was a record of who voted which way, do you think people should be allowed to discriminate against each other based on that? You can’t sue the voters in a civil lawsuit, though. That just won’t work.

  4. There’s no need to sue anyone. Freedom of association or dissociation is sufficient social sanction to make voters responsible. People worry about what parties they’re invited to or who they’re seated next to or who dates them etc. And yes, just like politicians, they might lose their job.

Just as with politicians, it would still be illegal to commit violence against anyone based on the way they vote. And, yes, electing politicians is also political power. Political power of any kind is dangerous when there’s no accountability.
