Federal Election Commission Updates Chart on Candidate Filing Dates and Primary Dates — 12 Comments

  1. So the Independent Filing Deadline for General Election (for President) already passed in Georgia, Idaho, North Carolina, and Utah? Oof. Georgia in particular is ruthless: it seems like the last non-Libertarian/Democrat/Republican to be on the presidential general election ballot was Ross Perot in the previous millennium?

  2. Proggy, I don’t think that’s quite correct. Georgia has lowered its signature requirements for presidential access in recent years. I’m fairly sure the Vomit and Constipation parties secured ballot access for their nominees more recently than Y2K.

  3. I think there may be some confusion in the chart, with potentially different deadlines for congressional and presidential candidates, and for minor parties and independents.

  4. NOOO EXTREMIST CAUCUSES / PRIMARIES / CONVENTIONS

    ONE FILING DEADLINE

EQUAL NOM PETS / FILING FEES

    ONE ELECTION DAY

    PR – LEGIS
    APPV – NONPARTISAN EXECS/JUDICS
    TOTSOP

  5. Sorry, maybe I misunderstood, pets were eaten equally before 10,000 years ago? Or after?
