The Democrats have reached the point where they are afraid to run open nominations for fear of losing 1) control of the party, and 2) control of the election.
But, the breakup of the Democratic Party could be the best thing that could happen: several new parties could emerge, and the Republicans won’t have a clear target. The choice will no longer be either-or.
