Arizona Governor Vetoes Bill that Required Paid Circulators to Tell Everyone Approach What State the Circulator Lives In

On March 12, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed HB 4115. It would have required paid initiative petitioners to tell everyone approached what state the circulator lives in and that the circulator is being paid.

Here is the veto message, which is very short and general.

  1. This needs to be overridden. Obviously the commies want California to influence the state.

  2. USSR Yesterday is fake news. The next governor of Kalipornia will be another demon rat. The nAZi-666 spambot needs to stick to just answering Ifo’s questions and nothing else.

  3. Good veto by Governor Hobbs so that the voters have the opportunity of more ballot choices.

  4. Wrong. People have every choice to sign if they don’t care that the person asking them is paid, out of state, or both. Tricking them into believing they are helping a local volunteer is not adding any choice.

If you mean giving voters “choices” by letting out of state interests hoodwink signers with their astroturf campaigns…what about my choice not to live with the consequences of my unqualified neighbors being forced to fix their own toilets, cars, or legislation?

Division of labor is a good thing. I don’t want to smell what happens if everyone has to do their own plumbing, no matter how bad they are at it. I don’t want to share the road with cars if people are not allowed to hire professional mechanics. The same is equally true of legislation.

What about my choice to hire legislators to do the job for me, just like I might choose to hire plumbers and mechanics etc, and more importantly not live with the consequences of all my neighbors who are even dumber than I am when it comes to legalese being manipulated into voting on stuff they don’t even come close to understanding?

  5. The veto message has it backwards.

Unrealistic expectations on initiative proponents? Citizen initiatives were sold on the idea of local volunteers gathering signatures organically. If the idea of out of staters being paid to gather signatures was discussed when initiative legislation was introduced, it never would have passed.

How would letting would be signers have the information that paid out of staters are manipulating them silence the people’s voice? If the issue is popular, they will still sign.

It’s only when special interests are trying to hoodwink the people, pull a fast one, and pay their way into passing BS for which there is no genuine popular groundswell of support that having this information takes away a “choice.”

It’s kind of like warning labels on cigarettes or junk food etc. They don’t take away your right to consume those products. The difference is that with legislation you might be conned into screwing over everyone, not just yourself.

  6. Bad veto by Governor Hobbs with a dishonest veto message so that the people being asked to sign don’t have the opportunity of more informed choices and voters are deluged and overwhelmed by a bunch of proposed legislation most of them will never read much less understand; they will vote on the basis of dishonest ad campaigns by special interests and dishonest twisting of facts by lying fake news coverage.

  7. The hill is fake news, as you might expect from any source linked by the nAZi-666 spambot.

  8. Vetoes are part of a balanced system of government in a constitutional republic. Initiatives are not, as one can see from their exclusion in the US constitution. They came along much later in certain states as part of the “progressive” malignant cancer (communism on the installment plan).

  9. polisci super-morons love the olde divine right of kings regimes from the olde DARK AGE

    — monarchs *owning* regimes with *subjects* — and monarch legis bodies and monarch courts

  10. “Polisci” is super moronic to start with and there’s nothing scientific about it. Calling it junk science is an insult to junk.

Contrary to the (n)AZ(i)-666 spambot’s pre-programmed rantings, the balanced system of government created by US founders was not anything like a dark age monarchy or divine right of kings.

The spambot has not been correctly programmed as to the meaning of monarchy.

  11. IF TRUMP WAS A TYRANT THE nAZi-666 SPAMBOT WOULD BE ALREADY DEPROGRAMMED, ITS PROGRAMMER WOULD BE DEAD OR IN A SECRET PRISON, AND THIS WEBSITE WOULD ALREADY BE OFFLINE !!!
