On April 29, the legislature passed HB 1D, which draws new U.S. House districts. Governor Ron DeSantis is certain to sign the measure. Florida law has easier petitions in lieu of filing fee in redistricting years. Only 2,564 signatures are needed for U.S. House, and they can be collected anywhere in the state. However, petitions in lieu are due May 11, 2026.
It is likely the new districts will be challenged in court. It may be possible to sue for more time on the in-lieu petition. The filing fee for U.S. House is over $10,000, so the in-lieu petition this year is a bargain, relatively speaking.
The bill passed 83-28 in the House, and 21-17 in the Senate. Some Republican Senators opposed the bill.
Thank God for Ron DeSantis and Florida. They are going to push the redistricting battle in the right direction and, let us all pray, thus win the war. We do not need the demon rats taking control of congress yet again. They have done more than enough damage to our country already.
And thank you Jesus for the unexpected good news from the Virginia Supreme Court, even though it is not yet final.

Alden is engaged in an intellectually lazy shortcut, as a way to avoid the cognitive dissonance of dealing with arguments and viewpoints he or she has relegated to a mental cubbyhole of being wrong, unpopular, and extreme, because the globalist controllers of acceptable opinion have decreed it so.
Consciously or not, Alden is acting as a security guard for them, trying to make sure other readers, whether they engage or not, don’t consider those views or arguments either.
At least from my side of the conversation, however, I’m entirely willing and able to engage in rational and logical examination of the truth or falusity of my views and arguments. I’m willing to be at least as polite and dispassionate as whoever I talk to, anyone from any perspective and when ever time allows, etc.
I’ve changed my views many times over many years, including over 40 years online ever since Usenet days (at least since 1982) through this process. Unfortunately, it seems to be increasingly rare among the younger generations, particularly among those from the political left, who prefer to just shut and shout down “politically incorrect” views rather than engage them honestly and thoughtfully.
I’ve always been what AIden might call far right – the great Lester Maddox was a family friend, good friend of my father’s, and my political mentor – but I’ve changed specific views through discussion.
I have a suspicion my views aren’t nearly as rare or extreme as AIden would have you think. And even if they are, I could still be right and he or she could still be wrong.
