On April 28, the Missouri Senate Local Government, Elections & Pensions Committee heard testimony on HB2387/2480, the bill to bring back presidential primaries. The bill has already passed the House.
See this story. The Committee did not vote on the bill and it is difficult to predict what will happen when they do vote.
One of the interesting consequences of the Electoral Collage is that the process of nominating Presidents is pretty much controlled by the states thru their legislatures and state parties. IMO, this is actually a good thing because any major change in the system is going to have to be processed by the states, and not imposed by the federal government.
A good place for the states to start is trying out different methods of elector selection. It’s entirely within their power under the Constitution.

Unfortunately, Richard Winger allows those ridiculous spambot lies to be posted, nonstop, by the AZZbot, thus encouraging yet more assassination attempts against the President, but does not allow Ifo’s questions to be posted anymore since they are “unpleasant” (because they mention some of the many nasty things actual tyrants do, like harvesting organs from living people – look it up if you have doubts).
