“No taxation without representation”? Suppose in the 1770s the British Parliament had offered the American colonies representatives elected under 21st century U S ballot access laws? Would they have settled for it?
He needs 14,200 valid petition signatures. He does not necessarily need 28,400 raw petition signatures to get 14,200 valid signatures. This would assume a 50% validity rate. If the validity rate is higher than 50% he could do it will less than 28,200 raw sihgnatures but if his validity rate is lower than 50% he would need more than 28,400 signatures.
I worked petitions in New Mexico 3 times and my validity rate was always in the 70’s-80’s% range.
The number of raw signatures he would need to get 14,200 valid signatures would depend upon how good of a job the people gathering the signatures did of screening potential signers and of making sure that signers filled out the petition properly.
