South Dakota State Senator Corey Brown has decided to abandon his SB 166, which would have virtually doubled the number of signatures needed for a statewide initiative. See this story, which says that the legislature received many phone calls from people who were angry about the bill.
Well, that’s interesting, for a while I thought that the people would have just let it happen as they’ve let lots of other authoritarian things happen in the last decade or so. Glad to see that I was wrong. Now maybe we could see a reaction like that in the 2016 elections, and get some Greens and Libertarians in Congress? That would be nice, albeit still unlikely at this point.
