The effort to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom has 900,000 signatures, but it probably needs at least 1,900,000 to meet the legal requirement of 1,495,709. Recently a wealthy individual donated $500,000 to the effort. See this story. Thanks to Michael Cowles for the link.

Way back in 2003, then Congressman Darrell Issa donated $1 million to the Recall Gray David campaign, which provided it with the jumpstart necessary for it to go on to success. I wonder if this will have a similar impact.
