Missouri House Defeats Bill to Reinstate Presidential Primaries

On April 24, the Missouri House defeated HB 267, which would have reinstated presidential primaries. The vote was 65-56, and bills need 82 votes to pass. Many legislators abstained. Thanks to Ken Bush for this news.

  1. I always thought that political parties should hold and pay for their own primaries; but, now I don’t. As long as ballot access is fair and minor parties are included fairly on the primary ballot as the major parties are then I see no problem as the state pay for it. I’d rather see taxpayers money going to something in America than wasted abroad.

  2. It is none of govt business who party’s pick or how. Better yet is the idea I saw somebody from Idaho post. Standing count of voters by party in each precinct and the winning party selects the office holders, replace them as needed til the next election. Losers go home and cry.
