On April 17, U.S. District Court Judge William Ray heard oral arguments in Catoosa County Repuoblican Party v Catoosa County Board of Elections, 4:24cv-95. The hearing was in Rome and lasted from 9:40 am until 1 pm. See this story. It seems unlikely that the judge will issue an injunction removing the challenged candidates from the May primary ballot. The same issue is pending in the State Supreme Court, but that Court won’t hear the case until August.
Another issue in the federal case is whether the county party’s proposed statements of policy should be on the Republican primary May ballot.

It is more like a RTL group had got control of a county Democratic party, and refused to put Obama or Obama-supporting candidates on the ballot.
Except that it seems more like what Nuna said based on the description in the story.

One of the candidates first encountered the head of the Catoosa Republican Party central committee, when the head was circulating a petition for a Libertarian candidate to challenge MTG (i.e. MTG was not extreme enough).
The faction that has gained control of the party is unlikely to be elected to public office, particularly a local office where they are expected to actually provide services.
But they can get control of the party.
