The November 9 issue of the Gaston Gazette has this editorial, criticizing North Carolina’s ballot access laws for new and previously unqualified political parties. This is at least the third daily newspaper in North Carolina that has editorialized favorably about the issue, since last month’s 2-1 ruling by the State Court of Appeals upholding the ballot access laws.
Candidate for President 2012, Let’s work together as a team! to get on the ballots. Many are called Few are chosen!!
Sounds like NC might be catching on.
I would think that the simple solution would be to say something like this;
“OK, after a statewide partisan election the top six participating parties would get automatic ballot access for a reasomanable time period, say like six years.”
The Constitution does say that if the EC thingie does not work, Congress is suppose to pick from among six candidates…if memory serves me. So maybe the founders thought that voters can handle that many choices.
