  1. Oddly, the person making the challenge does not live in the district.

    The “independent” had been elected to the Alabama House for 18 years as a Democrat, including as minority leader from 2010-2016. It is possible that his run for the Senate as an independent could be seen as being opportunistic.

  3. Communists have been running as independents in red states. Look at the Nebraska and Utah US Senate elections.
