Election Analyst Byron Fisher Writes that Massachusetts Top-Two Initiative Would Not Bring More Voter Choice

Byron Fischer has this op-ed, arguing that the Massachusetts top-two initiative, Question Three, would not give more choice to Massachusetts voters if it were to pass. The proponents’ main argument is that Massachusetts voters currently have too little choice. And it is true that the majority of Massachusetts U.S. House races always feature only one candidate on the general election ballot. Also most state legislative races also have only one candidate on the November ballot. But Question Three does not ease ballot access requirements.

Fisher is Chief of Staff for the Election Protection Project of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. His piece appears in NH Journal.
