On September 18, U.S. District Court Judge Denise Page Hood, a Clinton appointee, refused to let Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. withdraw from the Michigan ballot. Here is the 18-page opinion. One reason cited is that the Natural Law Party, which nominated Kennedy in Michigan, does not want Kennedy to withdraw, because it is too late for it to nominate anyone else.
On September 19, the New Hampshire Ballot Law Commission voted 5-1 to keep Jill Stein on the ballot. The Democratic Party had challenged her petition, pointing out that approximately 1,000 signers hadn’t put their Ward Number on the petition. But there is no tradition that signatures are invalid when that information is missing, and it makes no meaningful difference for petitions for statewide office.
The challenge had been filed on September 17.
On September 18, the Nevada Green Party filed this reply in its ballot access case in the U.S. Supreme Court.
Will McVay, a former Delaware Libertarian Party activist who has left the Libertarian Party, earlier this year noticed that the Conservative Party of Delaware had become ballot-qualified, almost accidentally. The Delaware definition of a qualified party is one with registration of at least one-tenth of 1% of the total state registration. Without any organized effort, the number of people who spontaneously filled out a Delaware registration chard showing themselves as “Conservative” rose high enough last year to qualify that party.
McVay organized it, and this year, under his leadership, the party is running Vermin Supreme for President, Jonathan Realz for vice-president, and Jon Roe for State Senate, district 2. Roe is the only minor party legislative candidate for Delaware legislature this year.
Supreme is also a former member of the Libertarian Party. He had sought the party’s presidential nomination in 2020, placing third on the first ballot.
This story says it appears that Minnesota Democratic activists recruited a conservative individual to run for U.S. House, 2nd district, and to have collected all his signatures for him. His ballot label is “Constitutional Conservative.”
