U.S. District Court John Woodcock will hold argument on Tuesday, February 27, in Team Kennedy v Bellows, 1:24cv-52. This is the lawsuit filed on February 21 over the Maine Secretary of State’s reversal on whether Kennedy petitioners may work at the polls on March 5. Maine has always before permitted petitioning at the polls for independent candidates, and had initially said Kennedy volunteers could do that, but then the Secretary of State revoked permission. The argument is over the telephone and commences at 1 p.m.
On February 23, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed this brief in Team Kennedy v McGrane, 1:24cv-83. This is his case against the March petition deadline for independent presidential candidates in Idaho.

California’s primary for all partisan office is March 5. According to this story, only 7% of all ballots have been returned to elections offices. Comparing past primaries since California has been mailing a ballot to each registered voter, this suggests that turnout in 2024 will be low, possibly the lowest ever for a presidential primary in California.
