RFK, Jr.: 2 Down, 48 + DC To Go

The Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Campaign for President announced that it has completed the Independent petition for President in New Hampshire, which is 1,500 valid signatures of registered voters in each of The Granite State’s two Congressional Districts (3,000 total).

It is my understanding that these signatures were gathered at New Hampshire polling places yesterday. This shows how important it is to keep government-mandated non-electioneering areas outside polling places small.

Obviously, the signatures have not been checked yet by the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s office, but I think it is safe to say that the validity rate on these signatures should be very high.

The other state on which he is now on the ballot is Utah.

Here is one of the stories reporting on this matter.

Anti-Trump Ballot Access Bill Introduced in Hawaii

Hawaii State Senator Karl Rhoads (D-Honolulu) has introduced SB 2392, to  ban insurrectionists from running for public office.  Hawaii has no presidential primaries, so as applied to presidential candidates, the bill would only affect the general election.

Here is the story.

Not that Trump’s absence from the ballot there would affect his electability, given how heavily Democratic Hawaii is.

U.S. District Court Rules Against Cenk Uygur in South Carolina Democratic Primary Case

On January 16, U.S. District Court Judge Joseph F. Anderson, a Reagan appointee, explained why he orally kept Cenk Uygur off the South Carolina Democratic presidential primary when the case was argued.  Here is the 17-page decision in Uygur v South Carolina, 3:23cv-6879.

Uygur, who was born in Turkey, had argued that the Fourteenth Amendment, Equal Protecdtion Clause, had silently repealed the Provision of Article II that requires presidents to be “natural born.”  Thanks to Electionlawblog for this news.
