Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Requires New US House Districts in Louisiana, with a Second Black Majority District, Be Drawn by January 15, 2024

“The unanimous panel decision not only found that the state likely violated Section 2 in failing to create a second black majority congressional district. It also rejected the state’s argument that private plaintiffs have no right to sue under Section 2, an issue that has been percolating in the lower courts after a couple of Supreme Court Justices raised it.”

Ballot Shortages in Hinds County, Mississippi Caused Problems on Election Day

It looks as if some splainin’ needs to be done by election officials who did not distribute enough paper ballots to polling places on Gubernatorial election day in Mississippi. Here is a story. Hinds County includes the State Capital of Jackson, Mississippi, and is the largest county, in terms of population, in the state.
