According to this story, Illinois officials are thinking about the problem that the March 15, 2022 primary may need to be delayed. Illinois is another state in which primary candidates need petitions to get on primary ballots.

  1. This is something I’ll be watching closely, since there’s a good chance I’ll be running for office again in Jackson County, Illinois. Our local Green Party is Established to some extent at the County level here; it’s complicated, but our candidate for Circuit Clerk, a county-wide office, got well over the 5% needed to Establish us last year, so we’ve got that office and Precinct Committeepersons at the very least in the 2022 primary, and any of us running for other offices we’re not Established in will likely end up seeing delays or alterations to the start of petition gathering as well if the Primary is moved back.

    A real messy situation developing here, and that’s before any shenanigans the unDemocrats might pull against minor parties in 2022…

  2. Arkansas may well be full of rednecks and hillbillies but in the context of this thread the point is that Arkansas’ filing period for the 2022 elections is this November.

  3. Minnesota may face a similar situation. I expect the redistricting to get settled by the courts.
