New Hampshire Committee May Amend Another Bill on March 9 to Require Birth Certificates for Presidential Candidates — 6 Comments

  1. How about for ALL candidates in ALL States that require mere U.S.A. citizenship (to show some sort of LOYALTY to the Constitution — even with its many, many ANTI-Democracy defects) ???

  2. Just curious, but have any of these birth certificate regulations been passed into law? If so, would President Obama’s “Certificate of Live Birth” (which apparently anyone in Hawaii at the time could get, whether born there or not) be accepted, or would he have to show his real “Long Form Birth Certificate,” which even the governor of Hawaii was unable to locate?

Could the Democratic Party run another candidate in these states, but have their electoral college members vote for Obama anyway if he won?

  3. None have made any headway at all. Two have already been defeated. The Iowa bill is defeated because it didn’t make any headway by the deadline, and the Montana bill lost in committee. There are bills in both houses of the Arizona legislature, and the bill in the Arizona Senate has been defeated, but the Arizona House bill is still alive.

  4. Curiously I functioned as a U.S. citizen for fifty-odd years without an official state birth certificate. I had a hospital certificate acceptable to the USAF when I enlisted. Finally in 1999 an employer insisted on a state license of birth. I had no trouble obtaining that.

It must be reassuring to my neighbors to know that scrap of paper makes me a loyal indentured servant of the U.S. government. What a magical thing.

  5. What was the first regime to have paper for —
    birth certificates
    naturalization
    elector registration
    passports/visas
    land ownership
    paper ballots
    etc. ???

How many dead trees for all such paperwork ???

  6. This guy is here until 2012 and probably 2016. That portion of the Consitution is dead. Get used to it. I don’t like it much either, amending the Consitution outside the proper proceedure, but that is the way things are. It is not the end of the world. Just frustrating.
