This Florida news story about the Buddy Roemer presidential campaign mentions that Roemer might run for President outside the two major parties, and also has a link to a Roemer campaign video, in which Roemer praises the “Occupy Wall Street” movement. Thanks to Nancy Hanks for the link.

  1. The newly-open “Candidates ” section at the Americans Elect website prominently features Roemer, for what it’s worth.

  2. I am PRAYING that Roemer becomes one of the six I underatand who will be in the run-off to choosing a presidential candidate. He’s the only one talking about two key issues 1)the corruption of Congress and the presidency by donations from corporations and special interests. Incidentally, I understand 60 minutes is going to do a progrm on this tonight. It’s a sin of BOTH parties–only Roemer is willing to end it.

    2) He’s the only one talking realistically about our appalling trade policies that have led to this economic mess we’re in. I hear that Romney has not suddenly become tough on China and that he really sounded off at last night’s debate on foreign policy. IT’S JUST ANOTHER OF HIS TRIMMING WHAT HE SAYS TO FIT WHAT’S NEEDED. I do think just Roemer’s presence on the ballot has caused this conversion of Mitt–just as he’s “seen the light” on so many other issues.

I’m going to Google today and see if I can see even ONE citation a year ago where Romney ever spoke out against China! After all, he made his fortune, finding companies to downsize, lay off employees and MOVE to China. Why would he speak out against their predatory trade practices?? Until now, of course–needs to do so to win (or get 25% anyway) in polls.

  3. This is a very interesting development. It reminds me of the John Anderson presidential campaign in 1980.

  5. The really interesting thing about the Buddy Roemer campaign, though, is that he seems to be something of a populist. With all due respect to Dr. Ron Paul, not all mavericks in the Republican Party are libertarian in orientation.
