The fact that Platt now has 4% and that it has grown shows that he could get over 5% in this race. That would be good for the green party of South Carolina who is trying to gain a foothold in the state.
The poll says that 3% of Republicans support Platt (Green Party), versus 2% of Democrats.
Also, Platt’s support is much higher in the “other” racial category.
Platt could very well reach 5%, depending on turnout. 20-40% turnout and he could get to 6-8%, any higher and the total might go down.
@2: “The poll says that 3% of Republicans support Platt (Green Party), versus 2% of Democrats.”
Hardcore conservatives would rather vote for a Green than an adulterer.
If Platt doesn’t get at least 5% of the vote, I’ll be very surprised: Yahoo posted an entire news article today about someone who decided to vote for Platt instead of the major party candidates. While the article ended up referring to it as a protest vote, the article is nonetheless one of most notable instances I’ve ever seen in which the major news media covered a minor party candidate in an election, and probably THE most notable coverage given by Yahoo.
The Working Families Party also has a candidate in this race: Elizabeth Colbert-Busch. As this Washington Post reproduction of today’s ballot shows, Colbert-Busch is listed on the ballot twice: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2013/04/24/elizabeth-colbert-busch-to-appear-on-south-carolina-ballot-twice/
