Arizona Republican Party’s Attempt to Win a U.S. House Seat by Bolstering the Green Nominee Fails to Work

On November 8, the vote in Arizona’s U.S. House race, district one, was: Democrat Tom O’Halleran 111,768; Republican Paul Babeu 94,299; Green Party nominee Ray Parrish 12,480. In this race, which had no incumbent, Republicans spent money promoting the Green Party nominee, without consulting with him. The Republican-funded literature for Parrish said that the Democrat is too conservative.

This tactic didn’t work, because the Democratic margin in this district was not only substantial, it greatly exceeded the margin in the same district in 2014. Democrats also won this seat in 2014, but the margin was Democratic 97,391; Republican 87,723.

  1. The entire USA H. Reps is one EVIL giant minority rule gerrymander.

Now about 700,000 folks in each USA Rep. district — roughly 250,000– 300,000 voters per district — each winner is a MONSTER monarch/oligarch.

The gangsters get together behind closed doors and enact their 1,000 plus page special interest gangster laws which no body has time to read.

  2. There were also significantly more votes cast this year, which is part of why the margin was higher. This year, 218,547 votes were cast. The Democrat got approximately 51.14%, the Republican 43.14%, and the Green 5.71 percent. So the Democrat won by 8 percentage points.

In 2014, 185,114 votes were cast. The Democrat got 52.62%, and the Republican 47.38%. So the Democrat won by about 5.25 percentage points. That’s a swing of 2.75 percent, an increase to be sure, but I wouldn’t say it “greatly” exceeded it once you consider more people voted.

  3. The Republican candidate lost years ago when it became known that he attempted to deport his ex-boyfriend. Guys, it doesn’t pay to be nasty to your ex-boyfriends. You will pay for it someday.
