On December 29, Colorado State Senator Cheri Jahn, who represents the 20th district centered on Wheat Ridge, announced on her Facebook page that she has changed her registration from Democratic to independent. She has been in the legislature since 2000. She does not expect to run for re-election in 2018.

What’s her motive?
She has requested to continue to caucus with the Democratic Party, which will make its decision in January. Their statement is along the lines that she has always been an independent voice.
She is term-limited, so this may simply be a personal statement.
