U.S. District Court Reinstates Primaries for Statewide Judicial Posts for North Carolina

On January 31, a U.S. District Court Judge ordered North Carolina to restore judicial primaries for statewide judicial posts. She did not order similar relief for local judicial posts.

  1. I expect the Republicans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, so standby. The judges comment about “cluttered ballots” threatening the “freedom of political parties” is particularly disturbing.

  2. I doubt the Republicans will appeal. The Republicans had taken control of the Supreme Court, and then the elections were made non-partisan, and crypto-Democrats took control of the Supreme Court.
