U.S. District Court Won’t Require Dodge City, Kansas, to Alter Precinct Location — 10 Comments

  1. The HACKS get past another Election Day.

Par for the course since the USELESS courts do NOT take EMERGENCY LIFE or DEATH action in election law cases.

Thus — the very predictable standard ex post facto machinations AFTER the Election Day.

NEW election odds — about ZERO ???

  2. How many new excuses to screw up elections – times. places, records, etc. ???

Stampeding cows, plague of locusts, Wizard of Oz tornadoes, etc.
    —-
Yet another reason to have ALL paper mail secret ballots.

Oregon survives — even with the Postal Snail *service*

    — that magically delivers other govt stuff — tax bills, utility bills, etc.

  3. The court repeats an erroneous claim that the city said that there would be construction at Civic Center.

The school district owns the building and is (planning on) building a new administration building adjacent to it. The school district informed the county elections office that they would begin construction by October and included a plot map showing the parking areas that would not be available. Did the judge not read the county’s brief?

  4. OBVIOUSLY — take over EVERY PUBLIC office type building for starters – esp. skoools.

    — sorry kids – you can survive without a mere day of skoool.

Same for PRIVATE spaces, if needed.

Would teach them a lesson in Democracy in a CRISIS.

The standard SCOTUS quote – the right to vote is preservative of ALL OTHER *RIGHTS*.

Think 7 Dec 1941 at Pearl Harbor, then HI Territory, major USA Navy Base
    FLASH to all commands —
    Air raid Pearl Harbor
    This is NO DRILL.

IE mobilize the USA Calvary — if not a USA Posse under a USA Marshal – an officer of the USA District Court.
See the Horse Soldiers movie 1959.
Commander to Unit flag carrier – Unfurl the colors.
Commander to Unit Bugler – Sound Charge.

Again — a USA election is involved in part.

STOP playing MORON games with State/Local MORONS.
Put them in jail for 1 to 50 years as an example – for other possible MORONS.

  5. @DR,

What is an “office type” building suitable for an election?

What if the election used a large county-owned building, with lots of parking, with heated floors in case of inclement weather?

  6. What is an “office type” building suitable for an election?

Any thing with 4 walls and a roof and some clear floor space.

How many garages in D.C. or even horse barns ???

How about land a few USAF large cargo planes near DC — and tow them to D.C. main Street ???

ANY of the olde time movable voting structures still around (often green)

    — like mobile homes on wheels ??? — often parked on skoool grounds.

Time and cash to build some before DC election day ???

    — or just commandeer all mobile homes in the DC area ??? — with just comp for using them.

One more *investigation* by the Donkeys coming in 2019 in the USA Congress ???

  7. The whole mess —

add one more item to the USA/State/Local voter suppression lists —

Rig things more — CAN NOT get to voting place or back — aka poll location.

How many items on the Voter Suppression List — VSL ???

How many Suppression Lists in the Stalin and Hitler regimes ??? — ending with DEATH lists.

  8. @DR,

They are using a public building. It is a large public building with lots of parking, and heated floors in case of inclement weather and it’s ADA compliant.

Let’s put our thinking hats on, if you have not lost yours.

You are told that the school district will be building a new administration building adjacent to the Civic Center, and they include a map showing the parking that will be closed off. You are told that construction will begin in October. You know that you have to give 30 day notice of a polling place change. You find a county owned building that has a large open space like the Civic Civic which has lots of parking. You mail out notices to all voters whose polling place is changed. Some of the notices are undeliverable. What do you do? You contact the Democratic county chair to help get the word out to voters.

At the September BOE meeting they were discussing a concern that the current administration building is falling down, but said they did not want to spend any money repairing it, since they would be in the new building in 18 months. At the October meeting they had a phone discussion with the Kansas Department of Education who explained that projects had to be specced out before they could be bid. The administration building had apparrently increased in size and scope, and there was also a stadium renovation which they wanted to be in place by June 2019. There is a bid out for the stadium. Perhaps the school board thought they could get site prep work done – such as tearing up parking lots. Or maybe they ran into financing problems. It appears that the notification by the school board to the county was overly optimistic or premature.

It is actually not that hard to get to the Expo Center. You would not build a facility that was hard to get to. Timewise it is closer to the largest employers than the Civic Center.
