Cannabis Party Will Try to Get on Oklahoma Ballot for 2020 — 17 Comments

  1. The individual behind this effort is Paul Tay. He is known primarily for alienating nearly everyone with whom he comes in contact.

  2. I’m wondering what in their platform conflicts with the Libertarian party. There has to be a reason they’re trying to start a new party instead of working with the pro-legalization party already on the ballot

  3. Oklahoma had prohibition until 1959. Will Rogers once said, “Oklahomans will vote dry as long as they can stagger to the polls.” Prohibition was repealed in 1959 after prohibition was more rigorously enforced.

Even efterwards, there were restrictions. Liquor couldn’t be served in public. But private clubs could mix and pour drinks for members who brought or purchased their own bottles which were kept in their “private stock”. I recall being served bottles of beer which had my “host’s” name taped to the side. Other times I was served wine from a bottle that had been left by a previous customer, or being assured that it was OK to be served wine, “because they were going to change that law.” I believe that is what is known as an ex-pre-facto law.

Liquor stores were limited to one sign that said “LIQUOR” in small letters on a yellow background. That background might be a giant yellow backlit sheet of plastic in an ‘L’ shape visible from a half mile a way, but rest assured that the letters would be 3 inches high.

  4. Prohibition Party still around in ANY State ???

Count the PRIVATE/PUBLIC crimes in 1920-1933 — due to booze prohibition LUNATICS / EXTREMISTS.

  5. @ Brandon: Some pot legalizers don’t like the whole Libertarian package. Hence, the emergence of independent pot parties.

  6. @WZ,

The Marijuana parties in Minnesota are quite left wing, at least in their overall platform. That may be why there are two of them.

  7. When I started this US Parliament in mid-1994 and we held our first election, Libertarian Harry Browne came out first place of 125 names. I was on the ballot as Environmentalist.

In the 2nd election that followed we had the Pot Party and they started steam-rolling every in our election.

Then we started getting more splinter parties: Marijuana Party, Bong Party, Ghanja Party, etc.

    You get the idea.

As each party became known by us, every “founder” had different ways about them.

Ultimately, we have to allow voter to have the liberty to proclaim whatever word they wish.

There is a lot if randomness in voting, and the pure proportional representation does bring a lot more splintering among party names.

The people like and need the splintering and pure proportional representation (PPR) is able to keep us united. Under parliamentary procedures and PPR this fits well with our team.

Bring all people, all parties and independents, to the PPR Electoral College in 2020.

  8. Chris, we are picking the 100% even when they embarrass us our mrssage of equal time and equal treatment is more important than rhetoric.

Sure it may be difficult to control the mic, but when we protect equal time and equal treatment correctly, and then when we make sure that no one person is more important than the team, the voters will see the big picture.

No one’s voice needs to be censored, just needs equal time, and to demonstrate the good teamwork in protecting this principle regardless of ballot status (write one are OK).

  9. Cannabis Party USA/OK, PO BOX 481204, Tulsa, OK 74148. Cannabispartyok@gmail.com 918.602.4356. 918.892.0063.

Oklahoma dispensaries will be contacted to carry the Petition for Recognition of Cannabis Party OK. Crown Cannabis in Tulsa is a huge enthusiastic supporter. Thanks to owner Sterling

  10. Cannabis Party USA has terminated Paul Tay from public duties. For the greater good of the Party, Mr. Tay agreed to substantially dial down his outrageous publicity stunts, in favor of classier endeavors. Every go ask to sign the Petition at your favorite dispensary.

CPUSA intends to elect the next US Senator in 2020. We will make the plant so legal, cannabis customers can pay with plastic. So legal, April 20 is a national holiday. So legal, Uber brings pizza, pop, and the pot.
