Bill for Statehood for District of Columbia Now Has 195 Co-Sponsors

HR 51, the bill in Congress for statehood for the District of Columbia, has 195 co-sponsors as of February 8. It has gained 40 co-sponsors in the last thirty days.

By contrast, other election-related constitutional amendments are not gaining co-sponsors. HJR 7, to provide for a direct popular election of the president, only has four co-sponsors and has not gained any co-sponsors since January 11. HJR 26, to increase the terms of U.S. House members from two years to four years, still has no co-sponsors.

  1. Top Donkey command orders — to get 2 more RED DONKEY USA Senators.

    Next ??? –

Puerto Rico – to get 2 more RED DONKEY USA Senators

American Samoa – to get 2 more RED DONKEY USA Senators [???]

Virgin Islands – to get 2 more RED DONKEY USA Senators [???]

    etc etc etc.

    — akin to Congress Elephants creating LOW population States in 1863-1912 — more Elephant USA Senators.

  2. Current representatives are clueless as to the original intent of the Founders regarding an areas set aside to be the seat of gov’t. Or maybe they are not clueless, just defiant. In an earlier post someone mentioned that the area without gov’t buildings (if there is any land, or sufficient land without) can be ceded back to the state of origination. According to the ratifiers, Congress has authority over the laws in D.C., so it’s not like they aren’t being represented. Instead of 2 Senators, D.C. currently has 100.

Brits in 1761-1774 MADE SAME CLAIM —

  4. Richard:
Since the Democratic Party now at least has nominal control of the Federal House has ANYONE from the Democratic Party introduced a bill to start the process of admitting Puerto Rico as the 51st State?

    To Demo Rep:
Why are you assuming that all the Dependencies will AUTOMATICALLY elect 2 Democratic Senators if granted state-hood?

  5. Deemer – the RED Donkey hacks are NOT clueless about the RED communists in the USA occupied areas.
