Politico Story About Difficulties for Pollsters in Connection with the Democratic Presidential Race

Stevan Shepard has this interesting article at Politico, about the difficulty pollsters have with the race for the 2020 Democratic presidential race. Because entry to the party-sponsored debates depends on candidates polling at least 1%, pollsters feel a moral obligation to include every candidate who might plausibly get 1%. But, it isn’t easy for pollsters to ask respondents to choose from a list of twenty or more names.

Politico Story About Difficulties for Pollsters in Connection with the Democratic Presidential Race — 11 Comments

  1. LOL. How can they possibly know who might get 1% without polling? Seems like a chicken and egg problem. And do these polls include Republicans and others who want to see the Democrats put up the candidate they think is most likely to insure the president’s reelection? Also, isn’t 1% well within most polls margin of error? When we are talking multiple candidates on the cusp of a 0.9 or 1.0, or whatever the cutoff is, it seems like it would get arbitrary pretty quickly.

Far be it for me to the Democrats how to run their screwed up party, or for them to listen to me, but if they did I would tell them to have some kind of skin in game way of selecting debate participants – X number of contributions or y number of verified signatures from registered and/or contributing Democrats and/or people who voted in Democrats’ primaries or caucuses in the past, for example. This will vary somewhat because not all states have registration by party and not all states have primaries, but it’s at least a start on a gatekeeping system.

  2. Which hacks will make the most bribes/threats/insane comments to get on the 1 pct list ???

Involved — CONTROL over the $$$ 20 plus TRILLION USA economy and some major CONTROL over about 4 billion human folks in so-called Western Civilization.

ABOLISH timebomb caucuses, primaries and conventions.

  3. These same pollsters often seem to feel no moral obligation to include more than two candidates in the general election, even in downballot races that only have three or four candidates. But because the candidates in the article above are running in the Democrat Primary, they of course are making every effort possible to include as many as possible. What a lovely rigged system we have…

  4. Abolishing conventions sounds like a major freedom of association violation. Citizens should be free to get together to choose which candidates their group endorses. On the other hand, they should not be given quasigovernmental status by having government administer or pay for their primaries. If they want to pay for a primary or caucuses as a party that should be their business. Doing away with government printed ballots and going back to letting people vote with their own preprinted or handwritten ballots would be even better. As for control of the economy, that should be taken away from government along with control of people’s lives.

  5. Yes, they confirm, it is too difficult to set a threshold at 1% in their claim to be fair, but then snuff out the 600 names and thus all the real competition.

We can’t have any real competition and free speech rights simultaneously.

    Not.

The United Coalition USA has been bringing the .99% (plus one vote) for more than 24 consecutive years and pure proportional representation actualy does work fine.

  6. The establishment press can’t even imitate a 1% threshold while the United Coalition USA has been using 1/101ths
(.99%) thresholds (plus one vote) since 1995 and this works perfectly well and fine.

You read correctly, that’s .99% (or 1/101ths) plus one vote.

Our team has been bringing the unifying mathematics of pure proportional representation (PPR) under the Hagnebach-Bishoff method and google got it wrong. Despite them we’re still bringing the correct math and not the one-party system as in SF, Oakland and Maine, the national Libertarian Party and the Approval Party.

We still love everyone and we’re bringing the Unity Platform USA in 2020:

    And the Unity Platform USA:

Our team loves working with the 1% and in fact our threshold is under 1% (at .99%).

Our team of multiple parties can elect Unity Platform items all while working with Roseanne Barr [Anarchist] as a Presidential Elector in 2020 should she choose to return for the good of the whole.

  7. For about the 10th time —

Nominations of public candidates for public offices by public Electors is public business via public LAWS.

The SCOTUS MORONS have screwed up the preceding for 50 plus years.

    See the book —

Sources of Our Liberties ed by Richard L. Perry (Am Bar Assn 1959) — just before the leftwing SCOTUS HACKS went N-U-T-S in the 1960s.

  8. There’s no “nomination” if there’s no government ballot, any individual or group can nominate anyone they want and circulate a ballot suggestion form or cast one on a napkin after duly considering the matter over a seventeen martini lunch on election day.

  9. Sorry — there have been SECRET official ballots since 1888-1890 —

to end the olde rotted BOSS/tyrant party gangster nominations via caucuses/conventions —

and public ballots — recorded by such boss tyrants — for PURGE purposes.

Very good luck in getting rid of them.

Bringing back such boss gangster stuff will be like bringing back 1860 slavery and the 1776 King George III regime.
