North Carolina Becomes First State Other than California in Which Libertarian Registration Has Ever Topped 50,000

North Carolina released new registration totals on October 10. For the first time, North Carolina Libertarian registration is above 50,000. The only other state in which the Libertarian Party ever exceeded 50,000 registered voters has been California.

Here are the new totals. The Green Party only has 128 registrants, but that is because when it went off the ballot in November 2020, the state converted all its registrations to independents. When the Green Party got back on the ballot a few months ago, it had to start from zero.

The only other state in which Libertarian registration ever approached 50,000 was Pennsylvania, which had 48,966 at its peak in October 2016. The Pennsylvania voter registration form stopped showing the Libertarian choice after the November 2018 election. Although the state did not disturb the registration status of the Libertarians at that time, the absence from the party as a choice on the form diminished its registration somewhat, and it has about 45,000 currently.

  1. I thought the LP had candidates in Pennsylvania in 2018 and in 2020 which got 2% or higher of the vote do the Libertarian Party did keep a check box on Pennsylvania voter registration forms.

  2. In 2018 the 2% rule required at least 57,913 votes. The LP did not get that many in 2018. It got 50,907 for US Senate, and 49,229 for Governor. But the LP did get the necessary 2% vote in 2020.

  3. Thanks Phil for your participation and humbling introduction. And congratulations to the Libertarian Party of North Carolina for its long and steady growth in registration!

  4. EQUAL ballot access laws for partisan offices in how many States ??? —

    regardless of ALL LP registrations.

Party registrations = PURGE lists ready to go

by commie Dems and fascist GOP.

  5. That may bode well for Shannon Bray, the Libertarian nominee for Senate in North Carolina. In 2020, Bray got 3.3%, so though I’m not a Libertarian, I’m sort of hoping he can at least match that result.

  6. @“az is a retard”… fascism is authoritarian center-right national collectivism. You can see examples in France with Le Pen and the National Front, the AFD in Germany, the DUP in the UK, and the Freedom caucus in the house and the American Freedom Party in the United States. And of course the Nazi Party in Germany in the 20s, 30s and 40s.

Fascism is an example of authoritarian social democracy, involving protectionist economic policies to prop up failing domestic industry and to provide things like old age benefits. It’s also closely tied to a corporatocracy which many western countries have today.

  7. As NC has become a swing state, this makes the LP a prime “spoiler” party there.

The LP there should become an advocate for election reform to minimize the spoiler label.

Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard announced she is leaving the Democratic Party, denouncing it as an “elitist cabal of war mongers,” while calling upon other “common sense independent minded Democrats” to exit with her.

Too many commie/fascist cabals to count — legis / exec / judic.

  9. Fascism is leftist just like communism. I’ve seen it proven conclusively in past comments here.
