Alabama Loses Lawsuit Over Access to Certain Voter Registration Records

On October 4, U.S. District Court Judge Myron Thompson, a Carter appointee, issued an opinion in Greater Birmingham Ministries v Merrill, m.d., 2:22cv-205. It says that the Alabama Secretary of State must release certain voter registration records to the voting rights group that requested them at cost, instead of using the legal formula that required fees of thousands of dollars. The basis is the federal Voting Rights Act.
Here is the 27-page opinion.

Alabama Loses Lawsuit Over Access to Certain Voter Registration Records — 8 Comments

  1. What perverted next ???

The VRA requires blacks to have above average assets and income [at the expense of whites] ???

  2. What is an Andy talking about? It’s almost like there was a comment that was not approved because of viewpoint, which the alleged sole comment approver assured us doesn’t happen here.

  3. Apparently we are not allowed to say why Alabama should have won except maybe if our name was az. How about, are we just allowed to say Alabama should have won?

  4. What about just pointing out the hypocrisy of the ownership or manager in censoring comments based on ideology after saying that doesn’t and won’t happen here? No body functions were mentioned (even though they do get mentioned all the time in comments that are not censored).
