New York Daily News Wants Governor to Veto Bill for an April Presidential Primary

The New York Daily News has a July 17 editorial calling on New York Governor Kathy Hochul to veto A7690, the bill that passed last month and which sets an April presidential primary. The editorial is behind a pay wall, but it says the legislature should pick one date for both the presidential primary and the primary for other office. The primary for non-presidential office is in June. The News says either an April primary for all offices would work, or a June primary for all offices would work, but that it is bad policy to have two primary dates in the same year, so close together in time.

The legislature still hasn’t sent A7690 to the Governor. For some reason there is often a long delay between a bill passing the New York legislature, and the legislature sending it to the Governor. The bill passed June 8.

  1. JR-

1787 USA CONST OVER THREW THE OLDE 1777 ART CONFED – SO MUCH FOR UNAM STUFF

1775-1789 OLDE REGIME RECORDS TO USA SEC STATE OFFICE – NOW IN NATL ARCHIVES

  2. That sounds like a yes. AZ contradicts himself on a multitude of times per day basis.

  3. WILL JR OR MAXZIM GO TO COURT OVER THE QUESTION ???

    SCOTUS INTERESTED IN QUESTION ???

    MORE LIKELY-

*FORCED* RATIFICATIONS OF 13-14-15 AMDTS ???

    VERY GOOD LUCK.

  4. What court? I’m not even in your country and it’s not my preferred method of dispute resolution in mine. It would also seem assinine (or AZinine) to expect relief from courts organised under and pledged to a faulty foundation. It’s very unlikely any levels of your courts would take up any questions of their own legitimacy, other than perhaps to reaffirm it, but even that would be treating such questions as legitimate, which is against their interests and therefore won’t happen. If I didn’t have better uses for time or money I might see if one of our courts might make a useless proclamation as to the validity of yours or vice versa. However, I can think of far too many better uses of my resources. Naming comets, for instance, not that it’s at the top of any of my priorities.

  5. It might be useful to point out that the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments were ratified in the 19th century. However, most people either already know it, don’t care, or don’t want to be bothered with explanation of what you’re even talking about. As for AZ, he thinks the US is a monarchy, Trump is just like Hitler except for never having been in jail, and that typos are the only mistakes he ever makes.

  6. Pat, yes, this site has better usage as a venue for humor than for serious discussion, unfortunately.

  7. https://www.archives.gov/milestone-documents/articles-of-confederation

    Articles of Confederation (1777)
    ******
Article XIII. Every State shall abide by the determinations of the united states, in congress assembled, on all questions which by this confederation are submitted to them. And the Articles of this confederation shall be inviolably observed by every state, and the union shall be perpetual; nor shall any alteration at any time hereafter be made in any of them, unless such alteration be agreed to in a congress of the united states, and be afterwards confirmed by the legislatures of every state.

SO MUCH FOR *PERPETUAL* STUFF AND ***EVERY*** STATE ALTERATIONS

  8. I don’t see what AZ wants to accomplish by citing that or how. Oh, never mind, it’s AZ.

  9. Speaking of funny, for anyone who doesn’t already know, AZ stands by his assertions that ..

There’s no difference between Trump and Hitler except one went to jail (numerous much more significant differences have been posted repeatedly)

The US is currently a monarchy

He has never made any errors except typographical

Funny stuff! Also sad. Kind of like Biden on a set of stairs or speaking without a teleprompter.
