Newspaper Story on Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Petition Drive in Texas

Here is a short news story about the Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. independent presidential petition drive in Amarillo, Texas. Now that No Labels has dropped out, Kennedy’s petition is apparently the only Texas statewide candidate petition circulating. As far as is known, no party is attempting the Texas party petition this year. The Libertarian and Green Parties are already on the ballot.

  1. Why is the Hispanic Policy Foundation trying to guess or influence the libertarian nomination?

  2. Last poll says Kennedy hurts Trump more than Biden. That’s funny and probably true (middle finger to Trump supporters). Gosh, I love rubbing shit in Trump supporters faces.

  3. You’re not any good at it, and the “latest poll” is nonsense.

  6. Big Daddy, you and me both! It’s definitely a satisfying and addictive, guilty pleasure. Best when you can get the moment on video and send it to all their friends and family.

  7. MOST BLACKS VOTED FOR HOOVER. TRUMP IS POLLING MUCH BETTER WITH BLACKS NOW THAN IN 2020.

  8. The newspaper article has the wrong deadline. They have the independent deadline for non-presidential candidates. The date for independent presidential candidates is May 13.

Literally Anyone Else said he might petition but I doubt it. He is going to have trouble coming up with 40 elector candidates.

  9. Because I don’t care nearly enough to do that, and wouldn’t expect an honest answer if I did.

  10. Troll daddy,

Alden is on a super secret special educational mission right now. The last time I saw him, his short bus went off a cliff, but his contact officer assures me he landed more or less ok, head first. His skull is extraordinarily thick, so that’s reassuring news indeed.

  11. I read the linked article. And asked the one question that jumped out at me, which was pretty much rhetorical, since anyone who actually knows is unlikely to answer truthfully, if at all. You’re way overestimating how important the answer is to me. Let’s just put it that way?

  12. @Wind,

If you were conducting a poll and wanted to ask about individual candidates such as Trump, Biden, and Kennedy, who would you have used for the Libertarian and Green parties?

  13. Jill Stein is a reasonable presumption for the Greens. Libertarians, it’s pretty wide open right now. I’d guess Rectenwald is in the lead, but not by much. I’d just say libertarian nominee since we have no idea who it will be and none of them have name recognition to speak of with the general public.

  14. Too bad the author got Nicole Shanahan’s name wrong — I sent an email for correction to Noah but no correction yet.

  15. @Wind,

    The poll reported:

    Trump 46, Biden 34, RFK 9, Stein 2, Oliver 1, undecided 8.

If Rectenwald were substituted for Oliver do you think the results would materially change?

If I were polling, I would want consistent descriptions.

If Kennedy were not in the race the results would be:

    Trump 48, Biden 36, RFK X, Stein 3, Oliver 3, undecided 10.

That is the RFK vote splits:

    Trump 2, Biden 2, Stein 1, Oliver 2, undecided 2.

In a sense voters opposed to both Biden and Trump are voting for “someone else”. RFK, Stein, and Oliver are convenient placeholders.

Do you know who Jason Villalba, Hope Andrade, or Mark Jones are?

  16. ANY NONPARTISAN POLLS RE EXEC OFFICERS. ???

HOW MANY 2024 $$$ TV ATTACK ADS PER VOTER IN 2020 MARGINAL STATES ???

  17. Rectenwald, Oliver, or any other likely l.p. nominee is headed for a fraction of 1% and a 5th place or lower finish, behind Kennedy and Stein. Cornel West would beat them with good ballot access, but doesn’t appear to be taking that seriously. Randall Terry might beat them, but again ballot access is questionable.

My point was just that its suspicious when an outside group picks an l.p. candidate at a point when they have no clear frontrunner for their nomination. It’s not likely that the name would make any difference in the poll, so they could have just said libertarian candidate.

  18. I forgot to answer your question. None of those names ring any bells. I know a Mark Jones, but I’m pretty sure he’s not the one you mean. He’s a shadetree auto mechanic and not a public person of any sort.

  19. @Wind,

The poll also included the Senate and RRC race, where the Libertarian candidates were known. I would think it would be weird to poll for Ted Brown or Hank Dunlap, but then go into a long explanation about the Libertarian candidate for president being unknown.

There are three recent polls on the Real Clear Polling website.

    Marist polled Trump, Biden, RFK
Cygnal polled Trump, Biden, RFK, Stein, West
Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation polled Trump, Biden, RFD, Oliver, Stein

If you wanted to cite a poll for article which would you choose?

  20. It wasn’t necessarily a conspiracy, actually that seems far fetched. Maybe they just looked at who is winning primaries or raising money or getting the most web search hits or whatever. Note: I haven’t, so that’s a guess.
