As reported earlier, three independent candidates for U.S. House in the Illinois Fourth District filed petitions last month to be on the November ballot. The requirement is 10,816 signatures. The challenge period closed on June 2. No one challenged the petition of Chris Getty. The other two were challenged. Mayra Macias had submitted 19,570 signatures, and Byron Sigcho Lopez had submitted 22,788.
Were the two challengers the same person or likely to be connected?
Was it because Getty has so many signatures that a challenge would certainly fail, or just because no one thought he was worth challenging?
