On July 21, Arizona held primaries for the Republican, Democratic, No Labels, Green, and Libertarian Parties. The only contested minor party primary for statewide office was the No Labels Party primary for Governor. Teri Ann Hourihan received 5,077 votes, and her opponent, Hugh Lytle, received 4,039.
The Arizona Clean Elections Commission sponsors debates for gubernatorial candidates. On June 18 it had sponsored a debate between the two No Labels candidates, but Lytle chose not to participate.
UPDATE: see this news story.
Ready for Teri to spam the forum in 3… 2… 1…
Ten candidates will qualify for the general election ballot on the Arizona Green Party’s ballot line. This includes three candidates who are currently endorsed by the Arizona Green Party, two who are unrated so far, four who are actively opposed by the state party, and a yet to be named Lieutenant Governor candidate who will presumably be actively opposed by extension.
Endorsed Arizona Green Party candidates advancing to the general election include Mike Cease for Corporation Commissioner, Gary Swing for Congress CD6 and Brendan Trachsel for State Representative in LD6.
Gerard Davis for State Senate in LD24 and Hector Gomez for State Representative in LD26 will also advance to the general election ballot.
Congratulations Mike, Brendan, Gerard, and Hector!
Counting write-in votes will take time, but based on percentages of votes cast for candidates with names printed on the ballot, it appears probable that MAGA Republican sham candidates Risa Lombardo and Duwayne Collier will succeed in hijacking the Arizona Green Party’s ballot line unless they are disqualified for campaign finance fraud.
Risa Lombardo will also probably set a new all time record for the most campaifn dollars ever spent per vote in a US election. Congratulations Risa Lombardo on achieving unprecedented heights of election fraud!
With low voter turnout, the Risa Lombardo campaign may have spent as much as $2,000 per vote to hijack the Arizona Green Party’s ballot line for Governor – mostly through “Clean Elections Campaign” financing.
