On the evening of Sunday, October 11, a televised debate will be held for three of the foour U.S. Senate candidates in South Carolina. They are the nominees of the Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian Parties. See this brief story.
UPDATE: the news story has been altered, and now no longer mentions that the Constitution Party nominee will be in the debate.
The article does not mention Mark Hackett, the CP nominee. Why is that? Was he a late addition to the ballot?
Meanwhile, in Not So Great Britainistan..Not The Bee:
British police show up to woman’s house because other people made derogatory comments and memes using one of her posts
How the UK is still considered a serious country, I’ll never know.
A bobby showed up to this woman’s home, she greeted him from the balcony, because of illegal and insensitive memes posted online.
The problem? She didn’t make the memes.
Oldspeak Bookshop:
A policeman came round my house this morning.
Because of a post I didn’t even put up.
Surely people must have better things to do??
Cop: You need to be aware of what you’re putting on your page because it started generating comments and inciting hatred –
Woman: It didn’t incite hatred! …
Cop: You can put on a private page whatever you want, but when it comes to a point that people are complaining … and there are derogatory comments being made … you need to be very aware of what your posting.
This woman posted a photo, we can’t tell what of, but the cops paid a visit to her because OTHER PEOPLE commented on her photo and made it into a meme. She did nothing wrong or illegal, as the cop admits, but because someone else added hurty wordies to her post she’s being harassed by the cops.
Woman: I’ll post what I want because it’s a free country.
Cop: To a point.
Woman: To what point?
Cop: Well, I’m not going to start shouting it … I suggest you look it up … I’m advising you to be aware of what you’re putting on your page. Because if it continues and we can prove there are offenses there, the next time we come back we can have conversation at the police station, okay?
This is some Orwellian nonsense, isn’t it?
That sure sounded like a threat to me.
What an absolute joke Britain has become.

If not for Liberator and Saviour Donald Trump, that could be us right now. We must all pray hard and vote MAGA or it’s coming. Keep your gunpowder dry and your guns in working order, and target shoot regularly.
You’re right. That’s one of the many reasons why I and a lot of other people always say White revolution is the only solution.
The constitution party and a few of the libertarians have decent ideas but the time, money and effort to try to build those parties is wasted, just like efforts to promote election system reforms.
We are being outvoted through population replacement and indoctrination at the schools and colleges, and cheated out of any wins by massive voting and vote counting fraud.
Then there are all the other problems including but not limited to:
Lots of people bribed by federal, state, local, and even international government jobs, welfare, contracts, and their own money in the form of retirement money, schools, roads, income tax refunds, and so on
Pro big government propaganda all over the so called news
Tax money going to government employees unions to advocate for bigger government – especially teachers unions whose members indoctrinate school kids, their parents, and college students
“Non” government organizations, funds, foundations, etc
Judges at all levels, thoroughly indoctrinated, bribed, and blackmailed/intimidated by their education and profession and the many decades of the legal system turned into a sick game of telephone through precedent
Corporations which use government red tape and contracts to give themselves competitive advantage, their employees and lobbyists and shareholders
Dumbing down the population through multiple generations
Propaganda throughout entertainment, academia, distorted “science” and “history,” corrupted religious organizations
The many professions which would be ended or severely disrupted if government red tape was cut
….
Good luck fighting all that through the election system. The system is not designed to let us win that way. They have installed too many safeguards and backups against it. There are many I didn’t even mention.
You are not using your time and efforts optimally in an unwinnable, fixed fight.
@JB,
The sponsor, SC Educational Television required candidates to meet at least three of the following five criteria:
(1) Nominated by recognized party (SC is pretty liberal in this regard with nine recognized parties)
(2) Public position on three issues (press release, campaign web site, news article, speech, brochure, etc.) Hackett does not have a campaign web site that I could find.
(3) $10,000 in campaign contributions. Whitener might qualify. She had $6,000 through the end of June.
(4) 5% support in a poll. Many of the polls did not even bother mentioning a third candidate. They asked if the voter would “vote for Graham or Andrews”; not “for Graham or Andrews or some other candidate”; let alone mention an actual candidate. I think Whitener got 6% in one poll early on.
(5) Mentioned more than incidentally in five news stories.
The moderator at the beginning of the debate mentioned that the SCETV had objective criteria, and to go to their website to find out what they are. I found the list, but not which criteria they met. If a “debate” sponsor hosts an event for one candidate only, it is considered an in-kind campaign contribution. That is why some of the debates have one Dem/Rep and one or two minor party or independent candidates.
@JB,
The Washington Post article on the debate did not mention that there were three candidates. The New York Times article only mentioned that Whitener was ignored by the other two candidates, who largely sniped at each other.
