Massachusetts Senate Passes No-Excuse Early Voting Bill

On October 6, the Massachusetts Senate passed S2545. It allows any registered vote to vote early. Election officials would postally mail each registered voter an application, asking if the voter wants a postal ballot or not. The bill also makes it possible for individuals to register to vote on election day. See this story.

Atlanta Public TV Covers Socialist Workers Party Nominee for Atlanta City Council President

WABE, the Atlanta public TV station, has this story about Sam Manuel, the Socialist Workers Party candidate for Atlanta City Council President. Because the office is non-partisan, Manuel was able to get on the ballot by paying a filing fee.

New York Governor Signs Bill Giving Parties More Control Over Nominations

On October 8, New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed S7191. It makes it easier for parties to prevent non-members from obtaining a nomination. This idea is something the Green Party had long desired.
