This Politico story says both the Libertarian Party and No Labels are trying to reach out to Elon Musk, given what Musk has said this week about the desirability of a new major political party.
This may be behind a paywall for some (or maybe all), but it addresses the upcoming New York City Mayoral General Election in November 2025 by reference to the election for Mayor of Buffalo, New York in 2021.

I do have one beef with this column. I am sick and tired of people referring to political candidacies that are very unlikely to win as “vanity campaigns.” I’ve had enough of the condescension of such a statement. Elections almost always benefit from having more voices with more ideas for voters to at least ponder.
On July 1, the New York City Board of Elections posted the unofficial election results for the city office primaries of June 24. See here.
On July 1, Ty Pinkins, the Mississippi Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in 2024, announced that he had become an independent and that he would be an independent candidate for U.S. Senate in 2026. See this story.
On June 30, Elon Musk wrote, “If the insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.” Also, “Our country needs an alternative to the Democratic-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a voice.”
