This Hawaii newspaper story relates the political history of Cedric Asuega Gates, who ran as a legislative Green Party nominee in 2014 at a very young age, polling 23.03% of the vote in a two-person race with a Democrat. Then, in 2016, he switched parties and got elected as a Democrat, and he has been re-elected every since. He is running for re-election this year, but is being challenged in the Democratic primary by the former incumbant.
Wow, so there’s a State law that says you can’t run under one party, and then under another party two years later? Or is this just Democratic Party of Hawaii policy?
Is that common? In a few states, you can lose a primary and run under a different party label in that same year’s general election!

Democratic party bylaws, not a state law. Gates registered as a Dem in 2014, but the party bylaws said he had to be a Dem for at least 6 months before running for office. He had missed that cutoff, so he switched to Green to run in his first election in 2014. Then he switched back to Dem after he lost. But the Dem party bylaws say that if you have been a candidate for another party, you have to be a Dem for 3 years before running for office as a Dem. That should have barred Gates until 2017, but the Dems made a mistake and let him run in 2016. The Dem incumbent lost that election and was mad about it.
The way I see it:
We the people elected Trump (twice) to drain the swamp and save America and make it great again. The first time the deep state and fake news evildoers and traitor scum nullified the will of the people with the Russia hoax and impeachment hoax part 1 and 2 and the ridiculous phony china virus plandemic. The second time they just plain rigged and stole the election and put in a dementia ridden puppet for the Chinese and Ukrainian oligarchs.
So in 2024 when we the people elect Trump again he should be given a twelve (12) year term and it should count as his first term as far as his eligibility. And he should be made the President and CEO of the USA with the power to fire any congressman, judge, governor, mayor etc. As well as any CEO of any American company!
Then at the end of 12 years we the people get to vote on whether to extend his leadership yet again. By then maybe it will be time to put one of his son’s in charge of the country. Or maybe not quite yet, and we keep Daddy in charge a little bit longer. Either way God bless America and God bless Trump. TRUMP 2024!!!
