TIME Magazine Article on Shrinking Number of Gubernatorial and U.S. Senate Debates — 6 Comments

  1. All my opponents are devils from hell who eat new borns [esp baby humans, cats and dogs] at midnight every day

    — so it is a waste of time and energy to debate them.

  2. Does anyone watch these debates? I don’t know one person who does, not even political junkies. I know w lot of people. And none of them watch this particular kind of shlock.

Lots of people readily admit to watching everything from church services they were too lazy to get dressed for, to extreme pornography, to retarded tik tok crap, and lots of other things of all sorts, but not this junk

  3. I think decades ago some people used to watch them because there were so few other entertainment options. Now there are an endless number of channels, streaming video, satellite radio, tube sites, social media, and too many other things to mention on all sorts of devices and screens.

Which also means that nobody knows how many people are really watching what, since the old ways of measuring ratings are meaningless now. There are still companies taking them, but they’re measuring something that is just not how people live, consume entertainment or information anymore.

People are more likely to watch snips and clips reposted various places or read summarized versions or both now.

  4. Since the data on who’s watching is so crappy it may be that there’s just no incentive to have debates.

Campaigns now find it a lot easier to communicate directly with people who support them or are interested.

It may also be that more people already have made up their mind, either who to vote for or that they won’t vote, or if they haven’t, don’t believe lying political candidates.

Slime magazine is, of course, tilted leftist propaganda, or fake news for short.

  5. Slime magazine is commie fake news superspun propaganda. The underlying story that debates are now of more negative than positive value to campaigns isn’t exactly news. The rest of the article is just trying to boost demon rats, especially in close races, and especially for control of the Senate, which is the biggest question left this year.

  6. As a dog and pony show, they just don’t measure up anymore. As honest exchange of views, does anyone still believe that?
