The Libertarian Party is the only minor party currently recognized by the State of Ohio and, accordingly, must nominate its 2026 General Election candidates by Primary on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Ohio voters may vote in either the Democratic, Republican or Libertarian Primary; it is each voter’s choice.
The LP of Ohio must earn 3% of the vote for Governor to retain ballot status after November 2026. Doing so would continue its ballot access in Ohio through the 2030 General Election.
