Forward Party Will Try to Elect a Police Commissioner in Newtown, Connecticut

Neil Chaudhary, a former member of the Police Commission of Newtown, Connecticut, will run in November 2025 for his old position. But this time he is running as a Forward Party nominee, and not the nominee of any other party. See this story.

Newtown has a population of 27,173 and is in Fairfield County. Its Police Commission has five members, each of whom serve four-year terms. The office is partisan. Virtually all local elections in Connecticut are partisan.

Ohio Voting Rights Groups File Federal Lawsuit Against New Ohio Law that Requires Some Voters to Produce Evidence of Citizenship

On August 22, two Ohio voting rights groups filed a federal lawsuit against the new Ohio law that says when people register to vote at the Department of Motor Vehicles, they must produce proof of citizenship. The case is assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Solomon Oliver, Jr., a Clinton appointee.
