Special Legislative Election in New Hampshire

On September 26, New Hampshire held a special election to fill a vacancy in the State House, Rockingham 4 district. The results: Democratic 49.9%; Republican 47.8%; Libertarian 2.3%.

In November 2016, this district had elected five representatives. There were only Republicans and Democrats running in November 2016. The average Republican nominee got 64.1% and the average Democrat got 35.9%. Republicans had won all five seats. Thanks to Bob Johnston for this news.

New Hampshire holds another special legislative election with all three parties on October 24, in the Strafford 13 district.

New Jersey Gubernatorial Poll

Suffolk University and USA Today have released a poll for the New Jersey gubernatorial race being held on November 7, 2017. The poll is unusual because it asked about each candidate on the ballot. Generally New Jersey polls for U.S. Senate and Governor do not do that, because there are more candidates on the ballot in such elections in New Jersey than in other states.

The poll shows one independent, and the Libertarian, at 2%, with each of the others at 1% or less. There is still a very large undecided vote, and the Democratic nominee is leading the Republican nominee by 20 points. Thanks to Political Wire for the link.
